Protein from Pasture

I first became interested in grass bio refining after seeing a presentation by the Biorefinery Glas project in Ireland (https://biorefineryglas.eu) where they are processing grass by mechanically separating fibre and high-protein liquid components using the Dutch Grassa technology. The presentation was part of a Scottish circular economy webinar. The idea appeals to me because aquaculture feed companies are always searching for new feed ingredients and it occurred to me that this has not been used for that purpose. It’s also a new way to look at pasture-based farming systems such as the small farm that I own in Northern Ireland. Until now, the only option has been to keep livestock but this could potentially develop into a new revenue stream.
